Default Weekend Events

Anet needs to STOP WITH THE WEEKEND EVENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They wonder why people are leaving the game? It's because of all these crappy weekend events taht just lagg the hell out of the people who really care abt the game (pvpers). Tehy don't need to keep up with WoW or w/e they wanna do because GW pvp is way better than WoW pvp. If they stopped having weekend events every weekend more ppl would play the game. Alot of my friends list has left the game because they couldn't gvg because of lag. If they wana keep people in the game go back to having special weekends only ONE weekend a month. No one cares about pve so stop pleasing them. the real players r the pvpers and they would deffinatly get more players if they stopped with the weekend events that lag everyone out.
So plz ANET....STOP WITH THE WEEKEND EVENTS EVERY WEEKEND!!!!

God forbid we get bonuses now and then!

God forbid Guild Wars attracts players and encourages them to play!

But I suppose you don't have a problem with the double Balthazar faction weekends, do you?

On second thought, your thread died before I even opened the field to quickpost.

OR, they could make them go for 2 weekends instead... a longer bonus might make more ppl attracted, plus give ppl more time to use the bonuses.

Dude, stop talking out your ass!!!

If you knew anything at all about the game, and I mean anything at all, you would understand that 90%+ who play the game enjoy both aspects the game has to offer. PvP and PvE, and I for one hate lag, but have a feeling that most of it is cause by more and more players joining the game, and the servers are unable to handle the masses. That and all the bot traffic really puts a damper on the game.

Now I am probably completely wrong, but I doubt that the fun weekends add to the lag problem, however they do add to the games fun value, so to hell with a little lag, and light'en up or get out!!!

I have a problem with all the events for several reasons.

1. they cause a lot of lag.
2. you should have to earn all your pvp titles so i dnt like those.
3. the weekend events may attract pvers, but make pvpers go away which is where GW excells (in pvp)
4. GW wants to keep up with WoW with all these events but they just make ppl quit the game so they are actually loosing people.
5. they lag everyone so the game isnt fun

obviously none of you guys gvg or do serious pvp. yes, the weekends do attract more players. but they ONLY log on durring the weekends. there are more people quitting everyday and less and less people only log on for the dumb weekend events. so GW is actually loosing players rather than gaining them. ppl logging in to afk doesnt count as players gained. kthnx.

and who r u??? your nobody in GW

I agree they should stop with weekend events, but that the only thing we agree on.

So for the simple fact that GW pvp is better then WoW pvp ( which everyone knows :P ) they should throw the entire pve out of the window?

Im guessing you know that more people will play if they had no weekend events ,because you can predict the future right?

So your friends left because lag prevented them from gvging?Did your friends ever think that the other team was having the same issues as they were.

Yes i agree they should have a weekend event once a month but not because of the lag or whatever you are whining about, but simply so they could give us a better weekend event, something they had spent a bit of time on.

So instead of having them spend for arguments sakes 1 day to make a weekend event every week ,let them spend 4 days a month to make a weekend event, that should be 4 times as good as a weekend event that we get now

You're right nobody cares about pve
Ow wait except the players that actually play pve, you might be surprised that there are people on the other side of the fence which you dont seem to be able to see.

If they stopped with the weekend events it is more likely that more players would take a vacation from GW cause there would be nothing to do, i know i have and a bunch of other people, but guess what ,When GW:EotN comes out , ill be back and so will all these people that have taken a vacation and guess what, so will your friends.

Instead of taking away something a group of people like just to you could enjoy yourself, why dont Anet just solve the lag issue ( like they seem to want to do) so BOTH sides can enjoy the game, never thought about that did you?

BTW I'm a PVP player.

================================================== =======================
Tim:stop making a fool of yourself.
PvP Players are leaving ( some will be back btw) because Anet is not giving enough attention to the pvp side of the game, skill balances etc and NOT because of any junk you are babbeling about.

Sadly though, there are people like me who don't give a rat's arse about PvP and/or the opinion of people therein and from my standing point I have no problems with lag, even at big PvE events like festivals I have around 250ms at most so stop blaming A.net and blame it on your ISP instead. You'll just have to deal with the fact that PvP is slowly dying (and the events have little to do with it) while the PvE stays the same, in the end GW is first and foremost a MMORPG so forgetting about PvE will never happen. You can't have one's cake and eat it too so stop gripeing and make some useful suggestions that don't benefit one side of the game only.

rofl. and wat is ur post saying? oh yea....pve is the only thing that matters.
so how can you tell me to make a usefull suggestion that benifits both sides wen u only wnana benifit pve? and besides this is a usefull suggestioin because alot of pvpers have quit the game because it is not fun to go into a gvg and lag out because of the stupid weekend event. and yes it is the stupid events because durring the week wen there are non, we hover around 50ms. and on weekends we get an average of 180ms. and sry but im not going to promote pve because its doing the same thing over and over. no one cares if it was the original mmmorpg, GW has the best pvp out of all the mmorpgs so anet should focus on what the pvpers want if they want to keep more ppl, rather than just wat pvers want.

Well I'm with Tim on this not much because I am a hardcore PvPer, because I too enjoy PvE (Kind of a Big Deal on 3 of my 4 PvE characters). I play this game because I love it, and I love the people I play it with. I have some of the greatest friends and guildies I could ever ask for as a leader of a competitive GvG guild. Ok back to my point, I have a pretty solid connection, as throughout the week I hardly if ever jump into the Orange or the Red but the past two weekends the minute the Weekend Event hits the servers, I start bouncing around, rubbering banding during matches, in PvE areas, and my ping hangs around Orange and I get random Ping Spikes of 10,000 plus. This lag alone forces my guild to not even be able to GvG on the weekends, our most active time, because we all experience the lag, and not just one or two.

As far tons of new players coming into the game, I highly doubt that is the case. There used to be a time when I could log on and watch obs mode for hours and never see the same matches up for more than 15 minutes because there were so many guilds and players playing. Maybe the PvE community is growing, but at the rate the PvP community has diminished I highly doubt that the numbers coming in can match the numbers going out.

I'm not supporting this case because I love PvP or numerous of my long time friends continue to leave the game because of displeasure and lack of support from AT for the PvP community, but because the game I love to play, the game I have spent 4000 hours playing is getting worse everyday with lag issues and wasted Weekend Events, as I feel with the depleting PvP community this weekends Double Glad Point weekend is probably a total waste, as the competition in the arenas has been lacking for quite a while now and I doubt it will get any better.

BTW: The name of the game is GUILD WARS, now think about that for a second. When in PvE do you have battle between guilds. I'm not saying that PvE isn't a valuable part of this game, as I too love to PvE, but shouldn't the basis and support of this game be the reason why it sold so well to competitve gamers?

This is my 2cents, as the rest has already been posted;
I could not agree more with tim and bruce. I play both pvE and pvP. Whenever there is no gvg going on with my guild, I turn to pve. I've been recently working on the maxed title track, and certainly have to say that pvE is taking a hit for the weekend events as well. The other day I was 263/290 vanquishing a mission in Elona with a few guildies, and we took a massive 10k ping hit; resulting in a sudden party wipe and mission failure; a total of 2 hours wasted. This is merely one example, as these 'hits' happen every 5-10minutes; our party has begun to 'brace' ourselves for the lag spike with emergency procedures.

This aint right!

I remember the 1st year of guildwars, there were only holiday events. This was great. I wouldn't mind the weekly events as much if Anet would, at the least, fix their servers so that they are capable of 80 districts in the monestary, without disrupting the gameplay of the rest of the Guild Wars community.

I am afraid at times; with my friends list diminishing slowly, that I too will have to start looking for another player vs player type mmorpg~

yes. i am also working on the maxed titles track, i want my mohagony title cuz its leet!!! and wen im not gvging i am pveing with a guildie. we have failed several vanquishign areas because of lag and then we go into gvg and loose to the worste teams ever because half our team either d/c's or just freezes for several minutes at a time. like today we lost to Xen of Ownslaught who we rolled last time we faced them, but out monks and me on mesmer could not cast for a while and wen we finally could we had team wiped and they were abt to get on our lord.

The events every weekend just seem stupid.

comparing these are supposed to be "excluesive" events then why is there 1 every weekend ? i would rather have the odd weekend with double faction , or double sunspear points , but every weekend just gets boring . So yes , i agree completely with Tim . Guild wars should stick with what it's good at , which is PvP

EVENTS don't cause lag. They contribute to it. There are server issues that ANET is working on whether it is at their end or something in between them an d the players computer.

So earning them faster is not good in any way?
Should we have a 1/2 bonus weekend where points earned are cut in half so it takes longer?
People still have to play with or without the bonuses to get anywhere with the PVE or PVP ranks.

I won't argue where GW excells. Various opinions on that one. However, just because there is PVP bonus weekend does not mean all the PVE players flood the PVP arenas.
Some will play for the fun, others will play for title increase.

Since WoW has set the bar for games like GW to compete against, why wouldn't GW try something that might attract more players to this game and away from WoW. Last I heard, from this and other forums, people are leaving GW for other reasons than events.

Well, true. Lag affects everyone no matter where they are or what event is or is not going on.

Lag due to Weekend events?

Are you nuts?

Lags in weekends is only due to network issues or more people playing becuse in weekends most people do not work and have more time to play.

This thread is plain useless.

By the way, YOU don't care about PvE. But PvE is as much important, if not more, than PvP.

1. Learn to spell. Makes it so much harder to read your ranting and mumbling with that spelling.

2. Dean Harper's idea doesn't sound too bad, having fewer events but having more thought put into them sounds like a good idea.

3. Both sides of the game are equally important. You can't just say PvP iz al GW iz fo becuz itz PvP iz so muc betr thn WoW so itz teh leetness and PvE sucz al PvE peple shuld go ply sum othr gam az GW is not PvE gam.
Both PvE is just as important as PvP, if it wasn't important would there have been any of the festivals they've been holding? hmmm, No.

4. As in Jaythen's post, you can't just split the community into PvE or PvP. Some people are actually capable of playing both sides of the game without descending into endless whining and moaning. I know someone who has done a LOT of GvG and all that, and he still enjoys and plays PvE, so you can't claim some guy in PvE has no idea about PvP, sure some don't, but some also do.

5. And the final post, echoing some others, why should we care you who are? How can you say we're nobody in GW? You don't know who we are or what we've done. I don't know who you are or what you've done, does that make you a nobody in GW? No, it doesn't, it makes you a fellow player of the game, and just because you don't like the weekend events why are you complaining? Lag is a fact of the game. Anyway, the number of weekends affecting "serious" PvP is very low. Most are for PvE, and those that are for PvE are for arenas or HA, which tends to be more for people coming into PvP from PvE.

Ah... by the way, you should first look at the guild wars page, and read the Network News.

Current lag is doe to some networks problems, and neither Anet or NCSoft have control over them, since they are of GW networks.

I always have green ping led, unless such networks problems happen.

So the problem is probably of you connection, you are in a bad place to connect to GW.
